Has anyone ever done this? I also have a Lonestar Strat and I have a set of Bill Lawrence pups with an L450 (I think) humbucker in the bridge. These pickups are outstanding - I can't say enough about them. I took my strat to band practice yesterday instead of my LP Std, and it totally rocked. I can't believe the tone - I'm thinking of talking to Bill to see if he can make me a custom set for my Paul. Compared to the stock pups in the paul, the Lawrence humbucker has a very wide open singing kind of tone. The stock pups in the std, sounded like there is a blanket over the amp.
The only thing, is that the Lawrences don't come with covers (i hate the look of exposed coils on a LP). So, what are my options? BTW, this post has some relivance to Gibson - Bill Lawrence worked for them and designed a few of their pups back in the "old days"!
I'd like to hear your thoughs on other pickups recommendations for my LP, too. My musical style is mainly classic rock, blues, with some warren haynes and creed thrown in. People have suggested a duncan '59 in the neck and a seth lover in the bridge? What do you think of this combo?
