• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

She's wise to me mate, every time I open my mouth on this stuff her eyes narrow more than somewhat.

I'll send her an e-mail, that'll take the wind out of the withering look sails...Ha Ha, I knew I'd come up with a plan.

I didn't say it'd work, but it is a plan.

Trusts are useful... when you don't trust your wife.

Especially with Streamline Modern Neo Art Deco amps from Baltimore!

Those chicken head knobs are like the ones on my Matchless. Cool

From the link…..
“Currently available chickenhead knobs just don’t have a nicely refined profile like some of the vintage originals, so I developed the skills to make my own knobs. I mold them myself in small batches.”

Like the rest of the amp, those knobs are not like any other knobs.

I always intended to get an Imperial Mk2 or Metropolitan but never got round to it.

Nothing against Boutique... Now, these are on the watch list.

This was a great rig using 2 of the prominent boutique guys of the time... Sounded great live!

How much are these Bartel thingy's?
This is one of those things…if you have to ask, you can’t afford it. I am not in the market, but if I were and had $5k USD to spare, I would go for one.

I'll have to sell something to buy one.

Are womens clothes and slightly used vintage makeup worth anything?

I don't think she'll notice...

Ok just to be Devil's -advocate here what do TK's or Bartel's bringing that a SF Fender wouldn't? Less bass flub at volume? Nor all the bells at household friendly volume?
I think 1968-72 fender's are the tit's (can you say that anymore?)

The right channel of say a Tone King Imperial MKII or Sky King is based on the AB763 preamp. The left channel is based on the 5E3. The output section is cathode biased. The reverb is a great reverb. The Tremolo is in the solid state domain, but that circuit need not be in the tube domain since it simply modulates the amplitude of the signal…it is not a tone processor…great bias vary trem, ime.
The attenuator is the best I have heard. In the Imperial MKII, that attenuator can be assigned to function only for the 5E3 channel. The Sky King has separate attenuation for each channel. So….no BF/SF Fendr can do what these amps do…despite the similarities, ime. The sonics are impressive. The build quality is top notch.
I have no experience with Mark Bartel’s new amps…the Bartels. I expect the same high quality.
