I was just thinking about the toys I used to get when I was little.

Who remembers Joe Namath Electric Football, table hockey (or rod hockey as some call it) (and my FAVORITE toy: table basketball) AFX tracks, those mini plastic football helmets that you had to put the stickers on and clip to the goal posts, Vertibird, Hot Wheels, tape recorders, legos that only came in three freakin' shapes:lol2 , Duffys Daredevils, Sandlot Slugger, Johnny Bench Electric Baseball, Model Kits, Captain Action with the free parachute, Johnny West . . .

Did I miss anything?

Sigh.......model kits. What ever happened to them? Back in the day they'd occupy two whole rows of shelves at our local podunk WalMart. Now they're stuffed into one shelf in a 4 x 6 section at best along with a whole bunch of crap.

I'd never make it as a kid these days.

SSP's!

That was the first thing I thought of too! Those ruled! Remember the "Smash Up Derby" version, that had those junker cars that the doors & hoods & trunk lids flew off on impact?

Ditto the Pre-KFG GI Joe & Charlie, Leggo, Creepy Crawlers, Hot Wheels, American Flyer electric trains, Revell models and 1/32 scale slot cars, Major Matt Mason, Bows and arrows (shot straight up in the air!!) Chemistry sets, barbells, banana bikes, 410 and 20 guage shotguns, my own skinning knife, Sears drum sets, Cox gas planes and cars & Silvertone guitars. For an Army Sgt and a part time secretary my mom & dad did pretty well for us at Christmas.

I had the Evel Knievel motorcycle stunt set AND the Evel Knievel Snake River Canyon rocket -- you put the Even Knievel doll into the rocket, launched it into the air, and then it parachuted back down.....short of its intended destination!

I harassed my mother mercilessly to buy me that stuff until she finally gave in.

Lincoln Logs!

They'er still around.. My son is getting a set for Xmas this year from his Nana..

Most of the other stuff mentioned here came out after I was out of the toy age.. I was into playing with girls by then.. Heh, Heh, Heh..

I loved models (back when you could get the "good" glue ;) ), chemistry sets, HO train sets and army men.. (the plastic ones, not the lead ones, you bunch of ageist bastehds) And sometimes all together at the same time :dude

I was majorly into blowing stuff up.. That little past-time didn't end until I was in my early twenties and I blew up a pitchers' mound at a deserted baseball field very late one evening and left a 6 foot crater where it once sat. :nono I figured that I'd better quit while I was ahead and still had all my fingers and eyesight, and hadn't killed or hurt someone or ended up in jail. :eek

Now I have a son and I live in mortal fear of him "inheriting" his father's "little fascination" with explosives..
