J.D. Simo and his talented trio rolled into Austin Thursday. I had the distinct pleasure to hang out with J.D. Thank you, Charlie! I know it's been said here many times before, but not only is J.D. a gifted musician, he's truly a wonderful guy. I'm on a mission to convince him to move to Austin!

Anyway, I brought a good friend of mine, and fellow Forum member's, very early 1960 burst to the sound check for J.D. to check out. Video attached. J.D. seemed to really bond with the guitar, which isn't surprising. It's a great instrument. J.D. ended up playing it for the entire show. And what a show it was. Everyone on this forum needs to see J.D. and his band if they're anywhere near your town. You will not be disappointed!

Thanks for posting, Michael. I got to eat dinner with JD and his wife a few weeks ago in FL, thanks to a mutual friend. Super nice guy. Hopefully if/when they get to NJ, I can offer him my guitar to play.

Flared jeans, coil cords and that Kustom bass head...I feel like I'm having a flashback :hippy

JD's playing reminds me so much of Page's. He is incredibly talented and not given enough recognition from the mainstream. I firmly believe that will change with the more exposure he gets.

A great show indeed! Unfortunate that the temp dropped about 25 degrees by showtime but it didn't seem to affect his playing at all. Very inspiring!! Did JD say why he only used one cab for the show? Just wondering. Anyway, great to see you and catch up a little, Michael. Talk to you soon, :hank Dave B

PS. And YES, JD, we already have a zillion guitar players in Austin but there's plenty of room for you, buddy. We'd love to have ya. :)

Great seeing you, too, Dave! Regarding the cab situation, apparently J.D. was infringing on decibel limits during sound check with the full stack. The show sounded great, but the full stack at sound check was pretty special.

What's up Michael. Sounds like you are doing great. Hopefully will get a chance to come down and talk shop with you sometime.
I'd be all for JD Simo moving to Austin, as I've never seen him before. Thank you for sharing the video!

The sound was absolutely glorious!!:dude: His style and playing allowed that fiddle to breath and you heard that all the way through. WOW!!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing Michael!! I've been following JD for a couple years now. Soon as I saw his demo on the Metroplex I was sold. Now if I only had his talent!

Amen. All that was missing was a paraquat-laced fatboy in a Power Hitter! Kill dill.

Me too! Can't wait to see him tonight. That's going to be a great, very intimate gig in a nicely re-done venue - perfect for this kind of music. :dude:
