Variances between 2000 & 2001 R9 Models

Plaintop59 & others,

Can someone refresh my memory as to what are the differences between the 2000 & 2001 R9's? I know the new R9's have the new tailpiece, but what other changes were made.

If I start looking for a plaintop I am just wondering if it really makes a big difference between the two years.

I don't think you can get an 01 R9 plaintop. Plaintop's this year get an R8 stamp.

I think those are on the R8's. Someone may know better. I wouldn't buy an 01 R8 plaintop unless it stood out or sounded incredible somehow.

The early R-8s and R-9s had the "high beam" rounded inlays.
The later models do not, or at least the one's I've seen don't have them.
