Antiquties vs. Seth Lovers

It is my understanding that Antiquties are nothing more than Seth Lovers with a weakened magnet.
However, some say that an Antiquity is scatterwound where a Seth Lover is not.
What is the deal?
Which would you prefer in your LP?
Thanks.

Seymour's "scatter wind" or "random wrap" technique does NOT apply to Antiquity humbuckers: only single coils.

Here is what I've learned about these pickups.

The similarities between the Seths and the Antiquitys:

1- Wound using 42 gauge plain enamel magnet wire on a Leesona Model 102 winder ("THE GREEN MONSTER") that was rescued from Gibsons Kalamazoo factory---same winder the PAF's were wound on.
Part of the reason the PAF repros are so authentic is that they use the same winder.
And the speed, tension, traverse and spool angle are all exactly the same as they were in the late 50's.
The only diff is that Seymour Duncan has installed counters on the Leesona and back then,Gibson wound by time...So now there is a bit more consistency from pickup to pickup.

2-Both use Alnico 2 magnets.
3-Nickle-silver bottom plate with long legs.
4-Nickle-silver cover.
5-Nickle studs.
6-Single conducter braided shield cable.
7-Butyrate plastic bobbins.
8-Not wax potted
9-Wooden spacer

Here are the differences between the Seths and "Aunt-dickys":)

1-Antiquity has "calibrated"(aged) magnet.
2-Antiquity has aged parts including the coil.
3-Seth has certain plated parts.
4-The official word from Duncan is that the winding spec is very close but NOT exactly the same..

I like the aged Antiquity's alot....but
I think both pickups are a great choice...

I have apair of Lovers that I really like, they weren't in an LP though, but they still sounded great in my project guitar. They are up for sale on ebay now and I am regretting putting them there cuz I'm getting a LP soon and could have put them in there.
