Advice on what to do with this guitar (Pic)

This is my 95' black les paul studio. The guitar is in great shape, no breaks, the finish on the sides, back and neck is very good. I've used this guitar as a test bed for many pickup/electronic swaps, not to mention refinishing the top, which was a very nice Lake Placid Blue. Yep, a strat color on a paul.

Well, after several years of blue, it's time for a change. I'm going to at least refinish the top (only have a little sanding left). If you have any suggestions, lets hear them. The top is obviously a 3 piece so I'm not to sure about a burst, but maybe. Bigsby could be cool, maybe some binding on the front? 3rd pickup? Picture of Big Al air brushed?

LET'S HEAR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY :)

I'd go for a deep forest green and zebra pickups. Bigsby may be cool with that too.

I knew a guy who finished a guitar with sloe gin. It was really colorful. Made his case smell like NyQuil, though.

I think deep forest green with creme plastics, double creme pickups and a bigsby would look cool.

Dodge Viper Blue on the two outside pieces of wood and alpine white in the middle. That would be sweet with chrome p'up covers and black knobs.

I agree with the gold top! Either that, or pearl white!

Peace,

All great suggestions, please keep them coming :)

Several have mentioned 'Goldtop' or some type of 'Red'. I was actually thinking of these myself... cool. Someone mentioned if I had any other Lesters and what colors. Yes, I have three customs, two black, one butterscotch flametop, also have a honeyburst classic. So, I'm pretty open to any thoughts on this puppy.

when I first read your post the first thing that came to mind was GT, but a silver top could look cool too with black hardware.

Deep translucent blue with a faked binding, gold hardware (covers on or double blacks), black speedknobs & guard. Can't tell if the fretboard is bound or not. If so, cream ring, if not, black ring.

I "built" my own like this on Gibson's site and it was very cool. However, I did go for black P90s but you have the HB routes.

Try it here

I also like the idea of the forest green with a bigsby... Change out the hardware to gold, all creme plastic and a double cream in the laed and zebra in the rythym.
