'79 Custom bad refret question

Notice the raised fret (pictured)- the high E string slips under there all the time.

Around 18 years ago, I had a refret done, and this fret has been raised ever since ie: probably not a matter of "fingerboard contraction" due to humidity.

Furthermore, pushing down on the fret has no effect; it doesn't budge. So it also doesn't seem to be a case of the fret "popping out."

"With all this in mind, what should I do?

I’d take it to a luthier and have that fret replaced. There’s a ton of possibilities on the cause. Could be it was not properly radiused initially, the tangs were bad, the was tear out in the fret slot (so the tang isn’t grabbing), etc.

A decent luthier can address it.

I'd pull it out, check the condition of the slot, repair it if necessary, radius the fret properly and pop it back in.
Fret wire is quite springy, even if the slot is a little buggered, a properly radiused fret will stay down if just a bit is popping up.
And it's way up where it doesn't make THAT much difference.

Thanks everyone, for the helpful advice. I posted my situation here on the offchance that mine was a common problem with an accepted, easy fix. Because you never know! (Or at least, I didn't).

Absent that, I went ahead and booked an appointment with a luthier nearby in Orange.

I had a refret done on my '71 LP Standard by Wolfe Music in Florida. They have a PLEK machine on sight. I could not have been happier with the outcome. If there are any well recommended luthiers in your area that have a PLEK machine on site I cannot recommend the little bit of extra added expense enough.
