• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

How thick is the tortoise material? Anyone know if its the same .060 thickness of a single ply 50's style Fender pg or is it thicker??

I'd like to get one made to replace the non original black guard on my '61 Coronet. Mark Bishop suggested I get a tortoise guard like a Junior. I thought that sounded hot! Trying to find a manufacturer who has an original shaped template seems to be a challenge. Pickguardian has material that he says is .070 thick. If anyone can tell me how thick their DC Junior guard is it would be much appreciated. Thnx!

I highly recommend Tony at Pickguardian. He has made a couple of beautiful guards for me, including one for a DC Jr.

I've bought both a Tele & an Esquire guard in Bakelite from Tony. He does great work.. But what I can tell from pics sent to me, Dan @ Mojo Axe has the nicest looking tortoise material out there. Still can't order yet as I'm waiting on a tracing taken from an original guard a friend is getting for me.
