• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I've got that poster hanging up in my room. I know the story but had never actually heard Paul Warren and Explorer until now. Pretty cool after all this time. Someone has to know where that Explorer is!

Wow--that is one badass Explorer! But what the hell was Bob Welch doing at the beginning?? Did he have some rock video show at some point?

It must have been short lived, I don’t remember ever seeing it.

Indeed a bad-ass explorer. And, Paul is a hell of a player. That clip sells his abilities short. Check out his playing with Rod Stewart doing sailing (however, not on the explorer) :

I knew Paul and hung with him and his other guitar player in "Explorer" (Steve Gornall, who often played a Burst) back in the 80s in Hollywood. My association with those guys was a big part of my vintage guitar education. Saw that explorer many times and played it a few.

As for Bob Welch, looks to me as though he's waiting for his Reuben and Barley-bean soup at Canters on Fairfax........

Very cool! Curious if that Explorer had a fairly large neck or if you even recall?

I could go go for a Rubin!! :)
