3 pickup 70s LPCs

Anyone have any thoughts about 1970-72 3 pickup customs? I saw one for sale and I was intrigued. I don't think I've seen many from this period. Wondering about sound, collectibility, etc.

Try it and see what you think! I'd imagine they're like most other early 70s LP Customs.
I have no clue on the collectibility but my bet is that it would sound pretty awesome!

All ebony black Customs from this era seem pretty desireable with other finishes a close second. The triple pup version was an option available in all finishes and is rarer. Lots were routed for 3 aftermarket so be sure it is factory original if collectability is a factor.

Cool. Big Al, do you know if the 3-pickup version was offered only as a special order in 70/71? I saw one that seems to have a one-piece body (which was gone by late 69), so for 1971 that seems like it would be a special order.

Did the '70s three pickup Customs have the same out-of-phase tone when the toggle switch is in the middle position that the late '50s Customs had?

Good question. When I had mine custom shop version the wiring was quickly changed to include a blend function for the middle pickup.
