• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Another oldie but goodie from my collection. One of the few Gibsons with double whites before DiMarzio's cease and desist order. Rare to find one with a flame top and dark sunburst like this. I was told that this was part of a special order from Japan - no way to verify this, of course. The photos don't do the color justice - it's actually a reddish brown hue. Very unique.

Wow, it was so long ago - I remember that it was from a dealer that is no longer in business (can't remember the name). The "special run" info came from Big Al when he visited the Kalamazoo factory at that time and saw these geetars being built.

And the GT poster!

I used to wander while strolling Broad Street in Red Bank. I was living 'down the shore' in Sea Bright at the time, but couldn't afford vintage-y, and sadly never any lefties, of course.

Mike is this one for the "Dealer" or the other one ? (sorry for not having the proper nomenclature )
Not sure what you are asking. The guitar in Post #9 above is my 1982 Gibson Les Paul Guitar Trader model. I was responding to corpse's question as to whether I still owned it or not. It is still in my collection. I also have a Guitar Trader Special (aka bootleg) model (made by a luthier for Guitar Trader until they received a cease and desist order from Gibson). That one is pictured below:

This article may be of interest to those who are just learning about the early Les Paul Reissues:

Sorry Mike , I got confused with the Heritage Series Standard 80, Heritage Series Standard 80 Elite . Which in my mind I mixed up the Guitar Trader series with the Heritage Series . (which I have to think you have and I have probably seen them from past posts ) Please post as I can never get enough of seeing your most wonderful and most awesome collection . I have told and written about this many times about going to the local mom and pop and drooling over the Heritage series guitars hanging above the cash register and just really lusting after them and wanting a Sunburst Les Paul , just like Jimmy Page . Anytime I think of a Sunburst Les Paul it is like yours with the color and figure as if you were to open a thesaurus and look up Gibson Les Paul Sunburst, and this would be the image . What I think is cool about your collection is that starting in the 50's and going forward you have every example/model off all of the Les Paul's that Gibson has built going forward to today . All in pristine condition and museum quality . Major cool and major compliments !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, but I don't have them all. Check in with Joe Bonamassa -- he has them all! :):)

And here are my Heritage Series guitars - Standard 80, two Elites, and one Award model.

So very beautiful . My compliments . I never tire of seeing your beauties . I bet you could write a book about your collection with build details, and images , and how you came to own each beauty, and where they came from as well , sort of like the Beauty of the Burst Book .
