1974 Custom 20th Anniversary Wiring Channel

After reading about some recent posts on the 20th Anniversary models, I wondered about something that's been bugging me. :)

Most early 70's Norlin Customs (at least to my knowledge) have a square wiring channel from the toggle switch to the volume/tone controls. My '74 Custom 20th Anniversary has a wiring channel that is round.... meaning, it looks like it was drilled from the output jack all the way up to the toggle switch. The channel is smaller and perfectly round. It just seems different from the norm, though not really sure if it has any significant meaning?

Was curious if any other 20th Anniversary owners (or early 70's Norlin Custom owners) have seen this smaller/round wiring channel?

I thought maybe this was Norlins first attempt at chambering, but after a few years they realized it would never catch on.

not a 20th ann LPC, a 74 or 75.. always wondered about the round hole..
