1969 Rosewood Tele Help

Hi all,

I am looking at possibly buying a 1969 rosewood tele that has come up for sale near me.

I am not that familiar with CBS era instruments and from what I have researched the rosewood teles in particular vary greatly. I was wondering if you all might take a look at these pics and let me know if anything seems off to you?

What I know:

- Pots are not original (guitar came to the shop with 250k pots, have been replaced with 1 meg mid 70s pots)

- Neck has a 9B code (hard to read), and serial dates it to 1969. Serial seems to be in the broad range of other Rosewood examples I have seen

Questions I have:

- I don’t really see a paint stick in the neck pocket. Does this seem typical to everyone?

- finish seems very thick in the neck pickup cavity. Again is this usual?

- I see some of these with a white logo and some later ones with a yellow logo like this guitar. Are they the same just the top coat yellows or did they use different logos.

Thanks again all for your help!

A standard '69 would have a white pickguard with pearloid on the bottom.
Or is the PG black on the RW?

At first clance, I don't see any red flaggs, other than the electronics that is.
These had pretty thick finish, rosewood is particulairly hard to finish and needs a thick coat to get rid of the natural grain. You can see how much the clear coat has tinted by laquer on the top of the nut.

I didn't see the pics first time.
I've never had my hands on a RW, but it all looks very right.
Funny how the bottom of the PG is tort.
Fender was doing weird stuff with pg's that year.
It's shrunk enough to be old.
Pretty sure my old '69 didn't have a paint stick mark. They must have been hanging them differently by then.

I don‘t want to shy you away, but you will see much more owners of a RW Tele on the Telecaster Forum
Edit: i just saw you already did.

It looks like the one I had. The undergrad was spotted black and white.
