• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I just love the 2x12 Marshall 18 watters. I like my clone so much, it's the first time I've ever thought about getting 2 of the same amp! Perfect wattage for me.

I think the 2x12 is the way to go over the 1. Thanks for the clips!! Love those alnico speakers.

very nice. When did you get the amp ?

I've had it nearly 2 years.

Awesome, I have a SERIOUS case of amplifier envy.
Rare for me.

Have you had to do any repairs on it? Is it stock ?

Ever gig with it ? Or does it stay at home.

If I could have any amp, I would pick that model.

Thanks for the clips and pix !!

Thanks for the kind words...I gotta say you guys here at the LPF are very kind when guys post their clips for ALL to hear.
It's very inspiring for a 44yearold-fart like myself... I should do some clips of my 66' BB combo next I guess...

It's a pretty much stock amp with some basic component changes over the years mainly in the power section. The "Full Monty" of pics are here
http://www.18watt.com/modules.php?s...ame=Gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php

I gig with it ALL THE TIME....My motto is; "smoke'em if you got'em"....the original owner who was a blues player in London, bought it new in early 66' and gigged the FUCK out of it for nearly 40 years! So now this amp "play's the blues" in sunny So. Cali... :)

That is the best sounding 18w I've heard! What is the story with those speakers?? Thanks for the clips! :yay

I don't think clones sound like that, I don't know if it's the speakers or the amp or both...???

VERY NICE!

A great amp for sure. I saw one once at Solidbody that I wish I would have pulled the trigger. The Rev had just bought one of two they had at the time. What an amp! :worship :worship

It would be a cool idea to post some mp3's and guess the amp or guitar without disclosure from the post?? Any takers? If I wasn't such a poor player, I would be the first to have a go at it!

Let the games begin! :dude :dude

BB, That's undoubtedly some of the best tone I've heard period, really incredible!
It can't and doesn't get much better that!

Those speakers are Celestion G12's which are identical to the Vox "blues" from the early 60's. That's why with those and the EL-84's, you can get that "Vox chime" at lower volumes.

The speakers play a pretty big part in the sound, but I think the Radio Spares power/output trannies play a bigger part in the sound. There's just no substitute for that old British iron IMHO.
