Clive... You have never done me wrong in anyway. I respect your skills visa vie in faking real parts and building guitars with Gibson logos. My first introduction to your products was in 2005. I was at a credited English guitar magazine when I was handed fake 59 Les Paul with a Gibson Logo... It was great.. I asked about it and was told it was built by Clive Brown. Didn't say Brown anywhere on the outside. Claim the inside tells all you want. It was obvious to me and it still is that you build to deceive and not to restore. So please excuse me when I dismiss your authentication on the Explorer based on your history as a faker.
I'm not hating on your skills... I'm just hating the scam you are trying to pull.
Would you sleep soundly selling that POS for 750,000? .

Wrong again! I have never built a Les Paul (I presume you are talking about a Standard) Finished a few but never built one, don’t like ‘em. Whoever told you that lied! Give me the name and I will contact them. I have never built any guitar to deceive anyone, nor have I ever sold one to deceive. What other people do with guitars I have restored/finished is out of my control that is why they carry my stamp hopefully to protect future buyers. I have seen cases where the stamp has been removed, again out of my control.

Regarding the 1960 Gibson Explorer I have said before on these pages if you care to read them.
I have known the guitar for 10 years, was there when it was bought in San Rafael, have had it apart various times, compared it to some famous Explorers (you’ve probably played ‘em) and can find nothing wrong with it. If you can find something wrong with it please tell me, let your expertise shine!

When the guitar was at Gruhn’s it was Gruhn that put the price on it, $50k was going to him, he has changed his mind 3 times about the guitar, he also admitted he doesn’t know much about electric guitars as he prefers acoustics and mandolins on which I understand he is knowledgable. He brings people in to check electrics, some of these guys aren’t very good, some are.
I have paperwork from Gruhn from 2009 when he saw a guitar claiming to be this one, it wasn’t, I also have paperwork from him stating that the guitar he did see in 2009 was a copy of this guitar!

I don’t own the Explorer and I am not pulling any scam with it, you seem to like calling me names, ie con man, faker. You know people who have known me for a long time, ask any of them if I am a con man or faker.

You claim to be a Bluesman.....Give me a break!.... Who’s the con man now....YOU!

I believe the 1960 Explorer to be original, that is my opinion! No-one is asking you to buy it, you don’t even have to look at it. If you (I know you won’t) or anyone else asks me to check out a guitar I always give them a truthful answer, sometimes people don’t like it.

I don’t know you Joe, probably don’t want to but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt because I think you have had some bad info about me....(I recognise a few of your Marshall’s though!)

I laughed my head off when JUSTIN called me last year and told me this story when he was marketing it.

Gary, have you forgotten what it's like here in the UK, OK the north of the U.K. a where a few of us try to eke out a living. It frickin' cold up here man. Ourmaninthenorth has the inside scoop on the situation has he's been to see the toothless soothsayer in the tap room of the Olde Man and Scythe over two halves of Black and Tan. The word is, summer will be on a Thursday this year, in late July. On this day, my testicles will appear and I'm afraid Mrs Twit will have me locked in the bedroom for the day for our annual lard rubdown and mating, followed by 2 woodbines, two IPA's and a fish supper. It just looks bad! If it is a real Explorer, then its a shame that it gets the stink of past transgressions of its former handlers. Its provenance only points to fakery....C'mon. It just doesn't make sense that whoever owns or owned a real, authentic vintage piece of history. Did not go thru the trouble of keeping it clear of anybody that is not 100% honorable.This guitars past is surrounded by the cast of the Music Ground cesspool. Too bad! You don't lay with shit and smell like a rose. And then there is Eric's extremely damaging picture. Certainly you all have heard the term " Everyone's an asshole unless proven otherwise". This mindset filtered into the collectible markets years ago.
