Check out this awesome April 1959 Gibson ES-355 T we just got in with some great features: watermelon, thin top, mono, and the earliest side pull vibrato tailpiece I've ever seen. I bought this from the family of its original owner last year, but then was able to buy it back recently. The shipment ledger indicates that it shipped from Gibson on April 22, 1959. Since that predates all the side pull vibrato guitars I know of, I was curious to see if there were any other holes from another tailpiece. See for yourself below that there are none! This is the original tailpiece, and a cool pre-production version of it too. Check out how the gold is lacquered over to keep it from oxidizing. It's remarkably stable too; it's as stable as the best Bigsby tailpiece guitars I've had.
