• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Here’s something you rarely see show up on a gig these days

In the late 70’s wen I had my 1958 it was my only guitar. I took it into the ghettos of Chicago for gigs. It was my guitar and that was that.

Here’s something you rarely see show up on a gig these days

These days with aged reissues no one would notice. In fact if you had a 300k real burst, you could take it out and folks would think, “nice reissue” if they even noticed. You would be a no greater risk of someone taking it at gunpoint than folks with reissues.

    Amp Choice

I had a 110 Ivy League. It was a great amp, sorry I sold it but it wasn’t loud enough for gigs and I don’t have a need for a bedroom amp. It did sound as good as any vintage tweed I ever owned. I didn’t know Victoria made a 210 model.

Not to mention the weight. I sold my Mark 4 many years sago because of it. These guys sound as good at 1/4 the weight.

Here’s something you rarely see show up on a gig these days

I was part of a multi band gig recently and this guy was playing this beauty. It’s the real deal, not some overly aged reissue.

You can always add the 110 external cab. I bought one for larger venues. It adds body to the sound. I mainly use the combo alone but have used both. I like it either way. After a month of owning it, a bunch of rehearsals and 4 gigs both inside and outside, I couldn’t be happier. I’ve yet to get...

I just got me Mesa Boogie Mark 5:25 1x10

I never seen that one when I was searching. I have the EQ but I have a turned off on the solo channel, it’s absolutely not needed. I have it on the clean channel that really isn’t needed there either. I just used the classic mess of V setting.

Decent. You lose a little fullness on overdrive but still sounds great. I have been experimenting with the direct out to my Bose. And I have to say it sounds pretty darn good.

The verdict after full band gig. Triskelion Brewing Company had us setup outdoors. It was fenced in on the sides and in front was the bar building. The rear was the enclosed stage. The size of the area was about like a med/large room. We used my Bose Pro 16 for sound and the band was a 5 piece...

Mine so far has a great clean and dirty sound. I bought it cause one of my band plays swing/jump blues. Need cleav for rhythm

I just got me Mesa Boogie Mark 5:25 1x10

I had a Mark IV years ago, too heavy. My favorite all time amp. This one has Marl IV switch. Sounds close. Tired of my Musicman RR 50 110

I just got me Mesa Boogie Mark 5:25 1x10

We’ll I took it to Asheville Guitar Bar and played a set with Virginia and the Slims. It was outside and they mic’d it. But at stage volume I felt louder than the others including a larger Boogie. It definitely held its own. I’m playing a full gig this Saturday which will be the ultimate test...

I just got me Mesa Boogie Mark 5:25 1x10

My favorite I sound I ever had other than tweed and brown amps was my Mesa Bookie Mark IV. It had the richest lead tone and a nice clean rhythm tone. As I got older it became a nightmare to lift into my car cause it was so dang heavy. So I sold it and went back to my old standby, a Musicman 110...
