Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
I decided to name my Les Pauls today. Not sure why but, if forced to guess, I got tired of referring to them as "The Goldtop and The Standard" and I've really bonded with these to instruments after being Fender-thusiast for decades.
So let it be decreed that, from this day forward, my 2011...
Grog has it right. The date code on the pots will tell the story. BTW, the guitar dater project had this to say.
"Your guitar was made at the
Kalamazoo Or Nashville Plant, USA
in 1970, 1971 Or 1972
Production Number: 105001"

This is an alnico 3 magnet from a 80's T-Top.

Or, you could just turn down the bass on your...
Confirmed sighting. I was looking at a P-100 and a T-Top and they both had bar magnets with 3 pen marks on it. I strongly suspect this is an alnico 3. I put one in a Burstbucker pro and it smooth out that nasty ass puppy quite well.
Here you go Stratzrus. Please (please) keep in mind, the search tool yields a wealth of information as literally every question has been asked before. My search, on your behalf, yielded the following result. If you do a natural language search on google for "Gibson Weight Relief" you'll get a...
Hi Everyone, I have a quick question about marks on some pickup magnets.
I'm a mod my guitars a LOT and, while swapping out some '68 P-90's for Fralins I noticed that the magnets in the old pickups each had 2 black sharpie marks on the edge. Two days later, I'm putting a T-Top in different...
