• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Collings v Gibson enquiry, can you shed some light ?

Renderit, thanks for that concise reply, I appreciate that. Youve answered what were going to be my follow up questions. Having said that, it would be interesting to know which type of amp works best for you when using your Collings/es335 ? Cheers.

How would you describe your Collings I-35 Deluxe, when compared to your ES-335 ?

MT-102B Custom MXV P.A.F. Mick Taylor Set!

My mistake, Am I perhaps partly right in thinking the guitar was owned by kieth Richards, and that this 'burst has the marks of a removed Bigsby when it was being used by Mick Taylor ?

MT-102B Custom MXV P.A.F. Mick Taylor Set!

Isnt this the 'burst with an amazing history to it ? I could have this all wrong, but If Im right it could perhaps be the first sunburst Les Paul in the UK, brought over by Kieth Richards with a b7 Bigsby attached. A young Yardbirds era Jimmy Page was photographed recording with it at Olympic...

Collings v Gibson enquiry, can you shed some light ?

Its been my ambition to own an ES 335 type guitar for some yrs now, and some time ago several people suggested that I shouldnt commit to a Gibson until Id thoroughly investigated what Collings has to offer. So, with that said I thought Id just open the floor for a discussion by those with...

Does a new 2021 R9 smell of Nitro?

The aroma upon opening the case of my 1992 Les Paul was always a treat. I couldn't describe it now but its was gorgeous and as a new guitar it greeted me everytime I opened the case, and Id stand there like a maniac sniffing the intoxicating aroma. Its 30 yrs old now and smells of of a hundred...

    PRS McCarty (Les Paul-ish)

My very fist guitar build was a Tele (naturally). I accidentally cut the fret slots to the Martin long scale, confused by unfamiliar imperial measurements. While the Martin long scale is actually shorter than the given "25.4 inch scale, the long travel of Tele bridge saddles allowed for...

    Hey Pedal Geeks!

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best. The first pedal I ever bought was a used Ibanez 10 series 7 band eq. I used it to lift the clean volume of the Marshall and Orange 4x12 half stack I was using back then, and found that the settings that worked for clean playing worked equally well for...

Nice article in Guitarist on Kossoff's stripped top '59

Ive just read the article, on the Koss stripped burst. Its a really interesting article and those images were amazing. The author claims that this is the guitar used to record Alright Now, and for all I know he is correct. However the '58 burst has been quoted as Kossofs Les Paul during this...

Nice article in Guitarist on Kossoff's stripped top '59

Id love to know the tech details of Kossofs '58 burst used for the first few, albums. Its the one seen in the footage from the epic Granada TV performance. It seems to have an unfaded three toned finish. I believe its the guitar used on Alright Now. Oh, and btw its considered to be haunted...

Any value in upgrading the ABR-1 on my R8?

Any value in upgrading the ABR-1 on my R8?

With respect you haven't. On the previous page I suggested what I believe to be the most likely reason for the hight and width variations found on vintage abr-1 saddles. Based on the evidence, I believe my conclusions are reasonable.
