Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
It was suggested that the back panel was really hot because of unmatched tubes, so I got a matched set of EL34s for the 100 watt Marshall (well...39,40,40,44).
Amp sounds great (not as much gain (yet) as my 50w though), but that dammed back panel is still red hot to touch. Just in the area...
I'm having a weird time trying to play on the upper frets on my Goldtop. Anyone else ever seen this?
I'm not talking about *access* to the upper area. I feel that playing even around the 15th or 17th fret area is just more difficult than playing around say the 7th or 9th fret area. I can't...
I need a replacement 6v bulb for my 71 100 watter. Plus, the lamp it currently has is also wrong. And in any case, the bloody bulb in there at the moment is superglued in...
So, I call Marshall. I thought it would be worth a try....
Five minutes and £3 ( :wow ) later, there's a replacement...
I'd no idea how expensive they are.
I was flicking through a UK guitar mag yesterday, saw an ad for a store I know. They're not in London, so the prices are "realistic".
1959SLP a GRAND?! Like, about $1500?!! :wtf
In the *same* ad they've got a 76 Superlead for *half* that! :wtf
I can't...
I've got the RICH master installed in my 71 now and I've been playing it a bit.
I'm not familiar with 100 watters, this is my first one.
Thing is, the back metal panel of the amp gets very hot after playing it a while, specifically right where the four output tubes are. The back panel is...
Still working on the 71... :)
The NFB wire on this amp is connected to the output selector on the (black) 4 ohm tap. This is the original untouched solder from the factory. I know they vary and it doesn't matter which tap it's connected to, you still use the correct selector for your speaker...
71 100 watter again. Man, has this been f*cked with...
Before I screw something up, can anyone confirm that the indicator lamp has two wires, leading to Pin 2 and Pin 7 of the fourth output tube? Same as the two big wires coming off the power tranny?
Also, can someone remind me which...
I just bought a 71 100 watter that needs some care and attention to get it back to spec. I have to say I don't know this area at all and I'd appreciate any help from you guys.
1. Preamp's pretty much untouched :dude
2. The voltage selector is long gone and the amp is internally wired to UK...
I'm looking at a 100 watter which has a resistor added across Pins 4 and 6 of each output tube.
The resistors are discoloured, like scorched. No other damage is apparent, no other scorching.
Is this trouble? I think I read somewhere that people add resistors here when the amp is used loud...
I was looking at a 100w Marshall earlier on, and popped the chassis. One of the EL34s had a white residue inside, coating the inside top of the tube. Anybody any idea why that was? Never seen that before...
Oh, it was one of the outer tubes, in case that makes any difference. Cheers!
I remember when you first set up your Marshall pages a couple of months ago. I was really busy at the time, didn't have time to have a look. But I made a mental note to get back and theck it out.
So I had a look this morning.
Christ on a bike! :wow :wow
Just wanted to say, thanks man...
I'm listening to Knopfler on Brothers in Arms (the track, not the album) over and over.
I've tried, but I just can't hear the Green mod on this.
We've discussed here before the 84 LP he uses on the track, and various people have said it's the middle setting wired out-of-phase, some say the...
Over 800 views and 9 bids? Nowhere near it's realistic value? What am I missing?

I flipped the magnet in the bridge while I had it out earlier, to try the Green thing.
Sounds great! Very noticeable and familiar - very cool!
My problem is with the vol knobs. With the selector switch in the middle, volume is cut in half. Also, winding either volume pot back a bit and the...
