• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

    Scumback M75 65w (AGI) tale...

So I got a call from a client (JL from So Cal) on Tuesday. JL was disappointed that he blew one of his M75 65w speakers in his 4x12 cab after three years. I asked how he determined it was blown, and he told me how he tested to find out, and I agreed he was right. Still, this was the first time...

My new 1958 les paull replica

And with Max's usual fake story to go along with it. Alan Niven didn't have a guitar, he came to MusicWorks and Kris had the guitar hanging in the window. Foote lent the guitar to Niven, Slash tried it, loved it, took out the PAF's put in SD pickups instead and was off to the studio. Max has...

    Speaker Upgrade Vox AC4C1-12

You should be able to fit a deeper speaker in there. Many of my clients have installed an M75 25w in that amp with great results.

P-90's: Talk about your favorite non-Gibson experiences

Jim heard my 59 Junior P90, and he used that as the benchmark for his G90 Bridge pickup, then developed a neck pickup to match it. I think he did a stellar job of replicating that 59's tone.

P-90's: Talk about your favorite non-Gibson experiences

I found the stock P90's in my 61 SG Special to be pretty boring, and unbalanced. I replaced them with Jim Wagner G90 pickups, which was a huge improvement. You can hear them in this YT video by Pete Thorn around the 1:45 mark.

A true 1968 Gibson Les Paul Custom

I received a reply from Gibson about my 68 LPC. Hello Jim, Thank you for your request, however at this time we’re not able to access the shipping legders. If it’s any consolation, according to your SN#, it does correspond to a 1969 ship year. Best Regards, Terry Greene Consumer...

A true 1968 Gibson Les Paul Custom

Gibson wrote me a letter in 1976, the year after I got the guitar. The letter said it was built November 8th or 11th (can't remember exactly, lost the letter), and it was the 3rd guitar off the line that day. They confirmed it was a 1968 LPC model, though. Serial # 558742 Pot codes are late...

NGD next week...2018 LP Classic Player Plus P90's...

I haven't bought a new guitar for 8 years, the last one being the Pete Townsend SG limited edition. Love the P90 tone, but wanted it in a Les Paul body. Had a 54 GT but had to sell it (sadly). Couldn't get the dual P90 / Les Paul thing satisfied...until someone on the TGP forum posted this...
