I just bought this '03 Les Paul R7 Brazilian “Stinger” #44/46 from Mark at MGL (picture credits to Mark @ MGL).

Ships tomorrow, get here is 5 days, so not exactly a NGD... yet

Been looking for one of these for about 10 years or so. When I had the money there weren't any for sale and when I didn't there was... well, except for this time. ;)

Really nice, I almost grabbed that one myself, but decided not too, since my 58 Korina /Brazillian, Flying V is just getting finished with paint

Nice guitar

I actually made the offer, and it was accepted, last Wednesday but couldn't pay until Friday due to the Holiday; I didn't want to post an NGD until it was confirmed as mine, you know, paid for and all. :D

Anyway, thank you... for not grabbing it before I could.

Post pics of your 58 Korina Brazillian Flying V once it's done please; I'd like to see it.

Here are a few of the build, I have to keep sizing them down, or else they won’t upload. Says that file is too large

Nice find- I have promised myself my next guitar will be purchased in person, cash-in-hand. I want to take the two-hour drive to Mark's or HOG.
That means I will find it on Gbase today...

I went there a while back. Picked up an R9 that once sat on that grey chair. Don't try to sit on that chair yourself tho. Trip rcommended. :)

I think most of them sit on that chair, here’s my 2018 R0, having a seat…i went there with the 1959…1959..must be 1959 in my head…I could not stop looking at this though…very fast tight playing machine

That's a beauty. I bought this '03 Les Paul R9 Brazilian from Mark a while back. Same chair.

Unfortunately for me it would be a 5-6 hour flight and then bit of a drive to go see "the Loft" in person. Someday maybe...

Thats a beauty as well…hopefully the Brazillian rubbed off onto mine, lol..

Yeah, for me and my dad it was a 2 1/2 hour ride, and just the whole experience, was amazing ..had that Christmas Eve feeling in my stomach the whole time. Then when you get there, you walk through a garage, and into a “Loft” a nice comfortable wood walled living room. All Historics, hanging everywhere, and Custom shop Strats, one of the best times of my life.

I almost got a 2017 Murphy painted R9, but I wanted this R0 after my eyes kept wandering back over too it, hanging on the wall next too some old Plexis. And next too an 1968 Gold top conversion, witch i played a little as wel.

I ended up getting my 2019 60th Anniversary R9, a year or 2 later , from Watchtower Guitars…just about the same type of setup, basically a Private collector -Seller…type deal. That one I bought off line though after talking to Wysel, for about an hour or soo on the phone.

Here is that one

Great gold color on that one!

I bought my 2003 Brazilian R7 brand new from Mark's back in March of 2003. Other than tarnishing of the nickel, its pretty much still in mint condition.

That's awesome. I didn't know you were building it yourself. wow... 🎸o_O
Oh no….LTDAVE , from “Desert Star Guitars” is building it…hes a mod, on MyLesPaul, forum

The most that I’m learning as far as guitar work, is making my own nuts, Slotting nuts, Fret Level, and Recrowning , work, and eventually refrets.

I cant do what he did

Ok, so I'm not a fan of the BB1/BB2 pickups and I've had a few in the past and changed them all.

Fiddled with adjustments and they just don't have my sound.

I much prefer A2 PAF's clones and I do have a set of SD "Antiquities" sitting in a box.

I know these guitars are collectable but are they really in a "collectable" class a notch ot two below the "Artist" signed and played series, or the "CC", and other such guitars?

I'm an expert solderer, have all of the RS guitar works pots I'd need and both vintage Sprague and Russin PIO caps, and I've rewired many guitars, so I'm thinking about changing the "guts" and pups to the SD "Antiquities" but I don't want to do something that could lower the value.

I'm sure it comes up often here but I couldn't find anything for what I'd call modding rare, collectable (?), guitars that are not really in the true non-vintage "collectable" class.

What's are your thoughts on this?

The Brazilian Stinger run was absolutely flawless. I think they are among the best.

My opinion is they're all perfect as they are. Any collector ideally want's one unmolested and as it was from the factory, of course, but unsoldered pickups isn't a deal breaker for most. If you're throwing in a whole new harness it is easy enough to retain the original all wired as one and restore it with only minor evidence should you decide to ever resell.

As the run was so limited with such unique pieces, it's slim pickens if they show up used at all. People will have to take what they can get.

I modded the hell out of my cc 13 & aged/signed Frehley burst - who cares?!! If your’e happy with it, that’s all that matters.

Did you buy it too play, enjoy & make music or are you a collector?
