• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

that price is like a car on the lot. You see the sticker price. Show some interest and the price drops a bit. Show a lot of interest and it drops more.
Tell them you want the guitar and you're ready to buy today, you'll see $1k come off that listed price real quick. Like any other retailer, they want/need to move product.

Hello,
Iā€™m new. The other day I was at GC and played this 59 reissue ice tea sunburst. Maybe the best guitar I have ever played. Unfortunately they want $7k. New boat or Les Paul?
My boat-owning friends are always complaining about all of the maintenance and upkeep that their boats required. One buddy told me that a boat owner has two really happy days - the day they buy the boat and the day they sell the boat! Get an R9 and be happy every day.

They say that boat stands for, "bust out another thousand."
You can buy them relatively cheap, especially on Craigslist or something, but it's the cost of running them - be it gas, insurance, storage / mooring etc. that gets you.
That said, those costs do go up exponentially with the size. A l7 - 19 foot runabout with a 40 or 60 hp outboard can run for a weekend on a tank of gas, whereas bigger powerboats are rated in gallons (burned) per hour. Sailboats are different of course, they can only get so big before they're too much to pull in and out all the time, putting the mast up and down...

Thatā€™s a luxury choice you need to make, Not sure what kind of boat you can get for 7k but for most players 7k is out of reach.
You can get a nice fishing boat for 7k. You can get an incredible guitar for 7k!

Also i forgot to mention, regarding the proce of this R9 the OP is talking about...yes of course you can get it cheaper. My dream R9 is the 2019 60Th Anniversary R9.I like VOS finishes but i prefer a gloss model.

In June of 2020, i was looking online, and found a shop that had a Brand new, 2019 60th Anniversary R9, in Cherry tea burst, ā€œAlso my dream color for a les paulā€ and it was a special order Gloss model, i didnt see many of those as most of these guitars were VOS.The Shop wanted $5895...i made an offer of $4880...he accepted...i actually wasnt ready to buy my dream R9 yet, because i had just bought my 2018 R0 a year before, i went to the shop to buy one of the R9ā€™s he had, since i was bit by the 59ā€™ bug lime alot of people are, but this Gloss Honey lemon fade R0 was just beeming at me, hanging on the wall, so i had to have it.Honestly one of the other reasons i was going after a R9, instead of an R0 at the time, was because i had a 2017 Gibson les paul Classic, and although, i donā€™t discriminate different sized necks on guitars,..like women, i love them all, but i thought that since the classic was advertised as a 60ā€™s neck profile, i figured the R0 was going to be flat and thin like the Classic, or my Standard, witch i allready had, so i wanted a fatter neck. However when i took it off the wall.I found that, the neck on it was a tiny ..tiny bit smaller the R9ā€™s i played, so i grabbed it.

Getting back to the R9, i made an offer figuring it would be rejected ,but was shocked when it was accepted, and that was that.

Also, last December, i checked my email, and found a flyer from another guitar shop.I never had an Gibson SG Standard , but knew i would have one. Also it was going to be a Custom Shop model,...the sales flyer had my dream SG..a 2016 Gibson Custom Shop SG Standard Historic, cherry red with the Maestro Vibrola, exactley what i wanted. The guitar was listed used in excellent condition, no fret wear, just a few little scratches here and there barely noticeable. The shop wanted $2,795.I made an offer for $2322....Sold.... the guitar has no fret wear and is pretty much new. These guitars were $4,800 New....Never be afraid to wheel and deal

First pic is the SG, second is the R0, third is the R9
