The Gartone is (pending confirmation from Richard) a 5E3 "clone" built by hand near Manchester. You can just see it on the right in the photo of the many P90's. My experience is mostly with old Fenders, tweed through blackface, so I know what they're supposed to sound like. This thing was a *superb* amp. I'd love to see what he could do with an octal version...

The amp is a Gartone 5E3, built by a friend of ours called Martin Garton. I have known him for more than 20 years. He calls the amp a Bluesman Amp. It runs 6V6's. I have one exactly like it and it's far and away the best 5E3 I have ever had and there have been quite a few! He spares no expense in building these and they are a thing of beauty inside, therefore they are not the cheapest on the market, but they are the best. He does have some secret sauce somewhere inside it I'm sure, but I don't really know what it is. It's just the bringing together of everything, including Victorian antique pine boards which are very light and resonant.

He will build anything you want, if you want octals then you can have them.

Thanks for the info on Martin. There's definitely some secret sauce going on there. I think I might need to sell some amps and give him a call... :hmm

Loved that HH! You playing Into The Valley through it with that Junior was great! Proper punk amp. Bit of Bablylons Burning or Staring at the Rude Boys wouldn't have gone amiss through it!

The Gartone is incredible. I reckon you need to have somewhere like you've got where you can wind it up though. Not one for playing at home. Want one.

Hi all !

I am a bit late to the party with my post, yesterday was a bit of a write off after many beers around Liverpool!

What a fantastic day yet again, really good crowd and great to meet some of you for the second time, and some of you for what I am sure will be the first of many times. Fair play to the guys who travelled, good to hear you felt it was worth it and I will defo come down to a London gathering should one materialise.

I really appreciated all the positive feedback on "Lazarus", my 56/59. First and foremost I care whether something is a good guitar but lets be honest, its really nice to hear good things from like minded individuals. Even Rich said "Nice" and thats basically a glowing appraisal ! :hee

Speaking of which, Rich thank you for letting everyone come down and have free (in all senses of the word) reign over your gaff, and Paul thanks for pulling everyone together.

Bridge pickup on the Morgan was a bloody powerhouse, and probably the revelation of the day! Also (forgive me, rubbish at tying names to faces, let alone forum faces) but the dude who built the LP copy himself, that had a great look to it, I was impressed !

Great to see you again Alex. I was knocked out by the quality of the resurrection work that J@S has put together, but that played second fiddle to see how proud and delighted you were to have it...which to me is what this is all about. Really really well done Pal. :salude :3zone
