The Music Zoo says they don't make the Black Custom Shop case anymore and are shipping Historic guitars in Brown Lifton cases... Is this true??

unfortunately yes. While i dunno if they are literally not making them anymore, they certainly aren't dolling them out with 2013's. Every high end historic, CC and my S/A Perry all came with them. I hate them TBH.....give me clasp security over aesthetics and 'period correctness'. I know the instrument inside a brown 'new' lifton isn't a real burst, so i really can care less if that's how it 'would have, could have, should have' looked.

If the case is the same as the 2012 brown case, I like the case. It has more cushion and better latches than the older brown cases that the R9's came in.

The 2013 cases have more cushion but have the crappy clip latches of the earlier (early 2000's) Lifton reissue case.

The main locking latch is different and bigger. Also there is an extra latch on the 'back'. Although this case is better built than the past issues, I think it is meant for storage and light travel.

The extra latch in the back is just as useless as the other non-locking latches.

The new brown case is simply awful. It feels cheap, flimsy, and has those crappy latches. Not even in the same universe of quality as the old black TKL cases.

PLEASE GIBSON, bring back the old black TKL cases!

Forget the Gibson offered cases. No nonsense Cedar Creek cases are where it's at!

I like the new cases too. I remember seeing a pic posted here that showed the Perry signed run all lined up. Some of those cases were the black ones.

AFAIK no one received a black CS case with a signed and aged Perry. Both of mine came in the shitty brown ones. Pay over 11K for a signed/aged guitar, get a cheap case. thanks....oh but here's a strap. while the strap is nice (although I've not taken it out yet) considering these guitars are a bit more valuable than your regular historics or CC, give us a decent case for the 5 figures you're charging us for the instrument.
