How is it I've never heard of one of these! I just picked this up a few days ago, dropped it off at my amp guy for necessary maintenance and got it back today. All I can say is WOW!

This is a 1961 Epiphone Devon EA-35. Single 12 Jensen, 6v6 power and off the hook tone!

The sustain, crunch, etc will amaze you and WITHOUT the saggy low end response of most 5e3's

I can't find one for sale anywhere right now, but will now be on the lookout!

First time I saw Humble Pie Steve M was using one of those Epihones at the Winterland thru 3 Marshall half stacks!!!!! Killer Jr's. One laid around Gospel music for a long time. I coulda woulda. Great amps I've got a bass silver tone totaly converted to guitar specs even a 12ax7 phase inverter. I forget what was in there. True PTP amps.:biggrin:

Fergs wasn't lying. It sounds really good. You actually need to use the tone knob to dial back the treble a bit on the coronet. Just can't say enough about this combo.

I forgot we were brothers.

I've never been impressed with gibby amps. Some were ok, but never anything to rave about. Was there a Gibson equivalent to this amp?

Well, the GA-35 is called the lancer, but it has more features. The GA-20 Ranger is close, but lower power.

I wouldn't completely rule out the Gibson amps If you havent tried the late 50s tweed Gibson Ranger, or Les Paul GA-40.

There are some great Gibson amps, but most were made before '61.

I had a late 50's, Maestro GA1-RT. It was kind of cool with fun tremolo, but not quite on the level of a 5F1. I've played a few 50's, but mostly 60's Gibson amps. All kind of "eh".

I've got a 1960 Gibson tweed Crest GA-20. No term, two channels, 3-12AX7's, pair of 6v6's and a 5Y3 recto & Alnico 12" Jensen. I subbed an NOS GZ-32 and a pair of NOS Tung-Sol 5881's. they didn't make a lot of these, but they sound amazing!

There are some good ones! I have a 1954 GA-20 and a 1959 Gibsonette and they rock big time! I couldn't part with them! :2zone

I have a GA-15RVT that is awesome. I used to have a EA-18 that rocked too.

I love what looks like a Silvertone Twin Twelve in the background. That was my first amp.
