Ummm...

I am far from being a goldtop expert and I known the seller's integrity has been discussed on here many times before, but does this listing ooze of being a collection of original hangtags packaged with a reissue guitar and reissue case?

None of my original vintage '50's cases have inner lining that thick.

Thoughts...? Am I being completely unfair?

Case looks correct to me.
And, I've never seen a 4 latch case reissued. :hmm

That one needs the Murphy treatment. Take a bottle cap to that top. Nobody wants one that clean anymore. NOT!

You can't judge authenticity by how "clean" something looks. There are antiques from the late 1800's that looks almost as new. Just a couple of weeks ago I played a 1957 strat that looked almost brand new and 100% legit.

But can these people be trusted is the issue

they have another Goldtop which I really like but would never put down money on something sold by these guys purely due to the reputation they have On This Forum - and I take what the majority of this boards opinion as gospel

such a shame as these are hard to come by in the UK at a decent price

It's a crap-shoot with these guys.........there's no question that they do deal in authentic and high quality guitars. Sadly, there's also no question that they also knowingly deal in fake and low quality guitars.

Who knows with this one, but any interested party should tread very, very carefully.

Hmm.. So even if this Goldtop is real, shouldn't one avoid the store just so there are consequences for them (if it's known they deal with fakes)?

Note: I know nothing of the dealer or what they may or may not have done, just thinking out loud.

Well, that's best left to the individual. Personally, I won't deal with Music Ground or its various trading names. The principal was convicted, from memory, of handling stolen goods in relation to the large Italian guitar theft. They're still before the Italian courts on that matter.

The same shit goes on everywhere, but rarely as brazen.
