• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

52-59 conversion. What do you guys think of this one?

And then there's the question of the 59 serial number.

I like how the product listing lists year as 1959.
For $40k i'd expect the poker chip and jackplate to be vintage, or at least accurate repro's, not to mention the knobs, truss rod cover (which isn't disclosed in the listing), pointers, rings, pickgaurd, and nut. You know, all cheap cheap things to source to make this thing more complete down the road. The cherry filler around the neck to body joint also leaves a lot to be desired at $40k. IMO

Let's take a $20k'ish guitar, toss a couple of grand worth of work into it, and now sell it for double? :hmm

At least the cutaway horn looks super '59 accurate in shape :wah

For those $$ I'd want something more original, top and parts, looks like it may have a good fat neck though.
And a '59 serial number is bad news.

Yeah, is really kind of trap for people who aren't too knowlegable about conversions. For that scratch you could get a real nice '54-'55 or a Dot Neck. Jeez.

Wow I didn’t notice it had been retopped !!

i would pass on it on that basis then. I’d rather have the ugly old top if it was that bad as I think they have plenty of mojo

I saw one for sale on FB recently that had a real nice original top and lots if/not all the parts. But they wanted $35k. I'll see if I can find it.

Maybe I missed it but I don't see anything written about the pickups so I guess they could be anything?
