• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Geddy Lee has a Burst for sale.

Really makes you wonder what they were thinking when they picked the tops. The difference between that one and say, Donna, raises a lot of questions.

Unfortunately, those questions are now 60 years old. I doubt the answers will show up now. But, we can always hope. :)

Plain, but yet they are nice pieces of wood. I don't recall seeing a burst with a hodgepodge of figuring and random markings on it. So even the plain ones may have been selected for aesthetic reasons.

I know what they were thinking.

They were thinking "Hey, we've got this big pile of maple blanks. Let's sort, match, then glue them."

Plain Maybe? Who needs all those Flames anyway? It has great color and nice vibe and Patina a winner

Me thinks a lot of people are forgetting that Gibson made money by turning wood into guitars. They didn't waste wood, anything usable was used that's why you will see plain (non-flamey) LP bursts just as you will can find plain Super 400s, L-5s, L-7s, L-12s, etc.

The V caught my eye. Burst is very nice too. Probably selling because he doesn't play them any more.

Nope. I posted the screen shot on that thread on Facebook that I saw you were following. That came to me from a pretty close source to Mecum.
