• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Calling all 1968 / 1969 Les Paul Owners.

OK here goes:

0. GT
1. Large head (you told me this, is 3 3/8" widest). No dot. All letters touch.
2. 541XXX
3. One piece neck, no volute
4. One piece body
5. Can't tell about top seam
6. P-90s (Whoopee!)
7. Can't tell about tenon
8. Pot codes- can see partials for two: TX1158 500K AT and 500AT 1375852
Sprague black cylindrical caps about 1 1/4" long each
9. "Les Paul Model" silkscreened over the lacquer. Brown smooth plastic back covers. Thick binding in cutaway area. I bought it in '69 as I recall, $150 used. Came with black rectangular case, orangish-yellow interior, open storage area.

Here is something I always wondered about, maybe it is common. When I have both pickups on and the volumes all the way up, if I turn either volume down to about '9', there is an abrupt shift in tone. If I turn down the neck to '9', the shift is to ac market make it more trebly, actually a kinda thin tone that is cool, almost sounds like a Strat. If I turn down the bridge pup to '9', it shifts to a more mellow tone. Is this normal?

Thanx,
Rich

Hi,
I understand the cross-banding in the center (not the pancake) started early 1969, when did it end?
