• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

for newbies only (under 200 posts) what model LP and amp do you play the most and why

Late 70's Custom (refin and the serial # is really hard to read) through a 5150 II (Added a Torres Dual Rectifier kit, using two 5U4 rectifier tubes and also Tesla-made Groove Tubes 6L6S) or a JCM 2000 TSL.

98 R8 through a 65 Fender Pro Reverb with 2 12" EVM speakers. Even though the pro can't even shake the EV's I love the combination. I also have a y2k Goldtop darkback and I play slide on an SG Standard tuned to open E. For acoustic I have a Taylor 710CE a dobro and a Weber mandolin

I rotate between playing a `99 R9,`00 R7, `00 R9,`01 R8, and an`01 R9 into an assortment of vintage and tweaked reissue Marshalls and tweed Fenders and Fender clones. I`ve been using a 1972 Superlead or a RI 1987x into either a RI checkerboard slant cab or a #1982 straight cab with G12H 30`s for the originals band I`m in. For blues/rock I use any of my amps, depending on my mood, and I`ll also use Strats.

Y2K R7 Goldtop, and 02 Std. Prem +, through an '87 Boogie MK III head into a '69 Marshall 4X12. In smaller venues I use a Boogie wide body 1X12 instead of the Marshall.

LP Custom with BB3 in the bridge through a Ampeg VL 503 for gigging and practice. I use a PV C30 at home. The PV sounds way better with my tele. The Ampeg sounds way better with my LP.

Guess I'll chime in here -

88 Showcase Edition Standard -> Samson Airline AG-1 wireless thru a 5150 half-stack with a BBE 362 and Rocktron Hush.

DAMMIT - I didn't realize I was well over 200 posts - how the hell did I manage that?

I have a 2002 Les Paul Standard in wine red (currently getting Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro neck and Custom 5 bridge pickups installed), and that is plugged into a Teese Picture Wah pedal, which then goes directly into my Rivera Chubster 40 amp. Occasionally, I may throw in my Boss GE7 equalizer pedal, but that is rare. I may shell out for a Boss DD-5 delay pedal someday.

97 LP Custom or 99 LP Special (see my avatar) throught a Fender Blues Jr. I don't gig so the extra watts don't help me at all. The Blues Jr. is a fine amp for low(er) volume playing. Great smoooooth tube tone.

Both LP's are all stock. I like the 498T pick-up and the 490R's are livable for now.

30TH Anniversary LP goldtop/ JCM800 model 4010 50w combo. I play this amp the most cause it's my only one. I 'll step on the old TS9 when the mood strikes.

02 Murphy R9 through a modded Fender 59 Bassman RI, sometimes a Mesa V Twin (mostly Blues channel) or a green TS808 in between.
