• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hi all,

I’m on the market for another LP, I have a 50th anniversary and now I like the 60th anniversary ‘59 and the Lee Roy Parnell ‘59.
What do you think about these models?

Depends upon what year the Parnell is from?

I know the one major spec difference is that on The Lee Roy Les Paul the pickups are mounted into the wood as that way they are supposed to be more resonant i believe ( if i am wrong please correct me ) versus the regular way where they kind of float after the rings are mounted to the maple top and are adjusted for height and tone . I am now reading from Gibson's website which states " which Lee Roy prefers to capture more character from the wood "
