• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Has Gibson ever done an USA LP DC with humbuckers and 4 knobs?

It really surprises me how Gibson has been for decades trying to find a guitar to compete with the PRS DC when maybe all they needed was to put humbuckers on a "59 Special DC under the USA lineup.

I think they did one in the 80s, but we guitarists don't like change, so it didn't sell many and got dropped...
Yamaha did one from the mid 70s to mid 80s 😉
... so did Ibanez.

i guess you mean the spirit xfl, but while those came with 4 knobs are more like a symmetrical les paul than a doublecut les paul, which have the offset cutaways and they have explorer headstocks as opposed to lp headstocks, appreciate your reponse tho!
