Gibson Custom shop ABR Thumb wheels and posts, why still made of steel?

Definitely brass on stock 2018 posts.

But then I had a Historic Bridge that I bought for another guitar, never used the posts that came with it, those were steel.

So I guess the answer is, whatever the guy installing them happens to grab.

Had the bridge off my 2009 R8 just for maintenance this weekend. Just for shits I put a magnet to each of the bridge posts. One magnetic and the other not.. Who knows? Switched them both to nickel plated brass and just went on with the rest of my weekend.
