• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

1985 Tokai TLS-65

Can someone tell me the rough value of this Tokai, thanks.
And is it Mahogany & Maple ? I know the flame on top is likely a veneer but does it have a maple cap ?

People hate me when I say it but those guitars have better wood compared to Historics.
Not all of them... I have found some Historics that sound good.

But those old Tokais does it all.

Totally agree. This was built in 1985 with Japan wood stocks much older. There is definitely something about the late 70's/early 80's made in Japan. Tokai has been stock-piling tone woods since the late 1940's/early 1950's.
I have a Luthier who does miracles, this guitar got a fret-level/crown & polish. Was at the threshold of a re-fret but now is like a new guitar.
Plays & sounds amazing.
