• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hi, hope everybody is fine and doing well.
Have no knowledge at all about sg junior guitars so hoped someone here could help me out.
There’s a SG junior up for sale with the serial nr:
554039
Does anyone know when this was made?
If it turns out to be an earlier model is there anyway to tell if it has Brazilian board or not? Don’t know when Gibson discontinued making them with Braz. Rosewood?

Thanks,
Torben

Gibson serial numbers are confusing during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Take the back plate off and examine the pots and look for the production code. If they are still the original pots you will be looking for the numbers after "137", so it should read 137yyww. Where "yy" is the year and "ww" is the week of the year (1-52). Hopefully, the number won't be covered in solder. Your guitar would normally be assembled within a few months of the pot date code. Post a photo of the pots if you need more assistance.

Thank you so much:) I’ll have the seller check the codes.
Any idea if these were made with Brazilian fretboard or not?

Best regards
