Hi all, I recently acquired this excellent 1998 LP studio in red. The colour is lighter than the usual wine red so I’m wondering whether it’s one of the rare guitars that used left over paint from the Gem series - even rarer as a lefty. I found a 2001 Gibson catalogue where this colour is described as ruby, wrong year though.
It looks to be all stock apart from the white pickup rings, white poker chip and gold knobs - the original black parts came with it, I just haven’t changed everything back yet. Previous owner may have been going for a Lucy or current LP Classic vibe. Looks to be a rosewood board not ebony and it plays and sounds brilliant too. So is this a rare ruby red post-Gem guitar? Thanks
