So I have been reading up on hand applied finishes on guitars out of curiousity, as when my Dad (and later me) used to build furniture, we always used very watered down varnish as a finish with very pleasing results, ranging from nice satin finishes to high-gloss shines (when enough time and elbow grease is put in). It got me wondering whether or not a thinned out nitro could be used as a wipe on finish? Even if carefully applied with a brush? Would save on the hardware costs for those of us without spray booths.
