Hello - I've had this LP for a few years after buying it second hand. I never bothered researching it until now, but I'd like to know more about this guitar. It was made in 2008 but it doesn't have any of the newer 2008 Standard appointments (locking tuners, neutrik jack, pcb board, etc). Here's what I know:
Is this just a simple Les Paul Standard? It's not the "2008 Standard," but it was built in 2008. I think LPS5 means Les Paul Standard with a 50's neck.
Thanks for your help. I'd love to know more about this. I'm also sending Gibson a message for more info.
- Stamped 2008 on the headstock. Internet lookup shows October 2008 build in Nashville.
- Neck pickup cavity notes: GT
- Bridge pickup cavity notes: LPS5
- Body is chambered or has weight relief of some kind. Weighs less than 8lbs
- Grover "tulip" tuners (not locking). I haven't seen these on any other 2008 or 2007 for that matter.
- "Standard" truss rod cover
- Pickups were swithed to Lollar Imperials by prior owner
- No pickguard was installed
- Back plates are sliver. I haven't seen this elsewhere.
- Mahogany body has lots of swirls and movement. I've never seen it like this, but I've always loved it.
- Case is the standard white interior
- Bone nut was installed by my shop in Nashville.
