• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hi,

I have some loose screws on the tuning machines of my R8. The shops around here are closed these days so I will have to fix it myself. I'm definitely no guitar tech and wanted to make sure with you that I'm not on my way to a disaster.

As you can see here, the back of the tuning machine is coming off the surface of the headstock and the screws will no longer grip when I try to screw them back in.

Is the fix as easy as this?

This is one of my favourite guitars and definitely the most expensive one, so I don't want to make any silly mistakes.

Round toothpick, white or tan glue. Easy peasy. Done it many times.

On holes that small I like to use a sliver of a toothpick- I shave a piece off- about half the diameter of the toothpick, and put it in the hole with a little white glue or wood glue.
