What is the small stone imbedded in the toggle backplate on the 60th Anny R9's?

I had noticed that the backplate metal cover on the 60th Anny R9's has a small stone imbedded in the cover.
Am I stretching it to think it is a diamond?
Just curious. I wouldn't remove it and use it for an engagement ring. ;)

That's what it leads one to believe , but I just think so as that would be cost prohibitive for Gibson Custom to do ?

Diamond Jubilee = 60th anniversary

It is most likey lower grade diamonds were used (ie low clarity / colour).

A cool feature none the less.

Yes.

Low grade diamonds cost very little.

As in: That is probably a diamond.

It’s not a real diamond. I couldn’t find the info online, so I took it to a jeweler, who conducted a few tests and established it wasn’t a real diamond. I didn’t get a definitive answer on what it was, though. I just got some educated guesses, but I can’t remember what those were, since it’s been about one year since the test was conducted.

Well, whatever it is, it's a nice touch, nonetheless. :)
