Wrong position/angle of wraparound bridge studs on 2019 LP special?

Hi everyone,

It seems like most wraparound bridges have angles that require the treble side set screws to be screwed in quite a bit, pushing the tailpiece farther from the nut. It seems that my new LP special 2019 has the opposite issue: the bass side adjustment screw has to be screwed in much further than the treble side screw, leaving a large gap between the stud and tailpiece (see pics). Oddly though, the intonation is pretty much spot on! But this can't be good for tone, right? Should I take it back to the shop? Is this a factory error, or would this be considered within acceptable tolerances? Any thoughts?

Tnx!

factory error (?) ...it’s hard to tell looking at those pix because of the angles ...could you post one directly in front of the guitar ...what I’m seeing it looks like the studs are very close to being parallel ..the bass side stud should be further away from the fingerboard than the treble

If the studs aren't offset, it's made for a lightning bolt wraparound. Is that the way it came from the factory ?

I would take it back to the shop to have them check it. The holes for the studs/bushings have been getting drilled by cnc for many years so they should not be in the wrong place. It doesn't make sense that the neck would have been set that far down in the body to need that much adjustment on the studs. If it were mine and I couldn't get it into the shop due to the coronavirus, I'd probably change the strings back the allen screws all the way out and try to adjust it to get decent intonation. The wound strings are the least sensitive to not being in perfect intonation. The vintage wraparounds are never perfect but E-D should get pretty close. You could also send an inquiry to Gibson, I think their customer service team is working from home and may be able to help.

Thanks for the replies! I put on new strings and the issue had become much less pronounced. Still a slight gap, but within reasonable margins. I don't suppose the neck's been set too far into the body, because I assume the neck pocket was CNC-ed as well? Also, the neck pickup cavity lines up nicely with the edge of the fretboard. I think Gibson just made sure this time that there is enough room for adjustment both ways :) And apparently new strings make a significant difference, even when of the same brand and type.

Tnx again!
