• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I am trying to find out if there is a caretaker crew for the facility and the instruments inside the building . I have one custom built Les Paul that is almost finished and 2 that are coming right after the first one . I am concerned of potential damage from the shutdown to my almost completed instrument and to all the other instruments there as well . So does anyone know the status of the facility if there is a caretaker crew or person ? I hope it's not just a case of -we were ordered to shutdown and last one out the door to shut the power down . I apologize if this offends anyone but as I have a significant amount of treasure spent and I am very concerned .

I had just bought a 2nd 2018 RO and had a few minor things that they were going to replace. I was told that everything is shut down except for the call center. They said my replacement order should be shipped in 6 weeks or less. Did you call 1-800-4Gibson? Before I found the leftover RO I had started a M2M order. I am glad I didn't have to pursue that route and found the RO when I did, it had checked all the boxes. I hope you get your 3 guitars in a reasonable amount of time considering this current challenge we are all in. Good luck and keep posting your progress.

Just a guess but they've been in business a long, long time .... I'm pretty sure the factory inventory is being well looked after .. there's a lot of doh, ray, me sitting on the Factory floor ...

Hey EG,
I have been told, through direct contact, that everything is safe in the shop. I have a 60th Anniv R0 M2M build, that was roughly two weeks from completion when they had to close. Not only that, I sent my '18 CS-336 P90 M2M down there, to have the neck scanned for my new LP. That's also sitting there. But, as I wrote, everything is safe and sound. The word I have is they will be back in the shop within a week or 2, at most.
I hope this eases your stress level...!!!!!!
Dave

This is what I've been looking at for the past 9 weeks...But think of how it will look when done!!!!!!

I had ordered a 57 Jr in VS back in January. They said 60-90 turn around. Should have been almost done when they shut down. Just got confirmation yesterday they don't have a ETA for it. But at least another 3 months or so, but that's not a guarantee. Said they would have a better eta in July! :dang

I know for a fact that they are now open, but working with a reduced crew. Gibson opened back up on May 11 (with a very small crew of about 1/4 the normal number of employees) after closing on March 22. So they were TOTALLY down for around 6 weeks, now ramping back up.

First order of business was (obviously) to finish the guitars that were already nearly finished when they shut down. I suggested they label those "Corona-cured" since they will have a 6 week longer curing of the lacquer than normally released Les Pauls.

You Know , not exactly the worst thing in the world to have the extra dry and harden time for the finishes as I have 1 almost done which should have been in my hands several months ago , with 2 more being built behind the first 1 and who knows when I will have the first 1 and ditto for the next 2 . So frustrating for me to have spent all that coin and treasure and basically sitting with my hands on my fannie and not a word I can say in a respectful way due to the Pandemic .

I am still waiting for my '20 60th R0. I was hoping for a completion within 2 or 3 weeks after they got back in there at most....but, it's still in process.......this is killing me...but will be worth the wait.!!

I agree with you and yet at the same time it's so frustrating . Same as 1 killer Brazilian Board Les Paul R9 I have in the "shop" for a routine service and who knows when the blank I will get that back . Frustration big time and I have to shut up about it .

Hi friends,
I started a m2m in the beginning of February.
Can you tell me if the factory at the custom shop has returned to work?

yeah they went back to work..some May 4th, more May 11th. I'm not sure if they are at full staff status yet.
The shop was delayed for approx 8 weeks. I anticipated my M2M to be in, sometime in early/mid March.
Now, I'm hoping for a June delivery. We shall see
If your guitar actually started production in February, you're probably looking at sometime in July or August.
Most dealers will tell you 6-8 months anyway. My other two M2M's each took 4 +/- months

My dealer say the dealer sales line now goes straight to voicemail doesn’t even give them a chance to get to there rep. And it wasn’t that way last week. Starting to get frustrating.

Probably because there's so many calls coming in they can't get any work done...

I asked my dealer for an update of my
M2M a few days ago and so far no response.
I asked him to send me some photos of the project and
he informed that Gibson does not send photos.
But I know that some dealers send pictures for their customers.

Dont get frustrated.....I know for a fact they are swamped with orders, plus the 8 + weeks shutdown, not being at full staff still....etc. Ya gottta be patient.

the dealer typically only gets photos if there is time for someone to actually go out in the shop, find your guitar, snap a few pics, then send them to your ordering dealer.
Again, as stated above, they are swamped with work/backlog/new orders and also dealing with a less-than-full-staff.
Your dealer should have told you, under normal circumstances, the wait from a finalized order to production to completion can take 6 months. My order went in, in December. It hit the work queue in the beginning of January. Actual work started sometime in late January or early February. My M2M has some "oddball" specs, so I knew it would take longer. I'm still holding out for June......fingers crossed
