• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Technically the wood laminates were pressed in Japan but the bodies were otherwise assembled in the Nashville CS. What I was told anyway.

I owned one of those "revolution" casinos for a while. After it was gone when I hit a rough patch I learned on this forum that it was an MIJ collaboration thing after thinking it was a custom shop guitar.

That guitar was ridiculously accurate. So much so that when I went shopping to replace the chrome P90 covers with black plastic (preference) not even "historic" covers fit the neck pickup because they were too tall for the shallow neck set. When I thought about it, then check'd out a period correct Casino I saw they were spot on as was the neck carve, binding width, shallow fret profile, etc etc etc.

If the Clapton was half as good it was probably a hell of a run.

I knew that cherry red one wouldn’t last long. From the comparison photos above it looks like the Reissue is much better than the Epiphone as it should be in my opinion. It could be the angle of the photo that is making waist on the Reissue look different from the OG one, and when I get mine I’ll compare it to a couple vintage ‘64’s. With the halt at the factory because of COVID it looks like the guitars we see on the market will be the last for awhile.

Originals all vary a little bit. And they're reissues, not replicas.

From the first post in this thread :hmm

"The expert craftspeople at Gibson Custom Shop have rendered every contour, profile, inlay and color of the priceless vintage models in magnificent detail"

Also, why does the Dave's listing say "no wire abr1". These clearly would have been a wired abr1 by 64.
At least they have the knobs looking better this time.

I'm seeing some subtle differences between the original and reissue in the "waist" and f-hole position, but otherwise it's clear to me what it is reissuing.

I'm more concerned about the fretboard species of wood difference (EIRW vs. BRW).

The sunburst reissue pic also shows that they didnt get the cutaways in the right place either relative to where they join the neck and their shape seems off too. Dunno, will have to wait to see one up close, but from that picture, something seems amiss....

i wasn't gonna say anything, hahahahaha!!!!!!
E; how many years ago was this... like 16 or 17? 😳😁 I think everyone knows by now.
from what I know, the bodies were built totally out except for paint, then shipped to Nashville, neck fitted to them and then finished.

One of us(a right handed guy) has to buy one of these and tell us what they think. My lefty won’t be ready until late this month or May! These are selling shortly after they become available!

I guess that the whole point is why even bother advertising that this latest 64 reissue is the most accurate reproduction to date when you can hold it next to a real 64 and immediately see that it isnt .. For $5200 I would expect it to be..And if we can see the differences, why cant they?

GuitarMikey you beat me to it, I was just about to say that. I think we all know the shapes of the vintage ones varied a little from guitar to guitar, maybe the specific one the Custom Shop copied looked that way. I was told at NAMM that they worked hard to get these right by scanning the bodies of vintage examples!

Deytooker I borrowed that photo you posted, and I apologize for that. If you look at the comparisons below the Wildwood looks nearly dead right to the cherry one below from GuitarPoint.

it woulda been real cool if they made the pickguard exact with the bridge pup gap and the larger neck point connection ...but that’s minor and being nitpicky ...the pic of the one from Wildwood has a really nice looking sunburst and overall looks pretty good ..I’d like to hold one in person

Exactly, I have parts saved up to swap on mine when I get it. The size of the pickguard is wrong and the position is wrong. Even on the Reissue LP’s they get the position wrong from time to time. You right handed guys are so fortunate, I would have bought that cherry NAMM one on the spot.
