I was on the fence on the frets simply because fret nibs on the old Gibsons tend to be microscopically small - even on mint condition Gibsons from this era - and vanish after some playing. With the two recent opinions stating "re-fret", especially from Charlie (OKGuitars), then I'll agree: The frets are new.

This would be a great question for George Gruhn. In the past, I've seen unusual modifications to the fretboard in his store inventory. Some professional guitarists just like to add their own inlays. When it's done outside of the factory, it lowers the value of the guitar, no matter how cool it is. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
