Can anyone please tell me the power rating of the 12" Eminence special design alnico speaker that Fender is using in there 12 watt tweed deluxe RI amp? I can't even find this info. on Fender's web site. Thanks in advance for any info.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that they are rated for 50W but can't seem to find any specifications for them so not 100% sure.

Re: Fender tweed deluxe RI question

Thanks PaulD, So after spending more time on the internet searching or a answer, I decided to contact a "Fender specialist" as referred to in the owner's manual. I was told by the Fender rep. after he looked up the part number that the speaker was a 75 or 85 watt speaker, but he was not sure. How does a company not know the specifications of there products? If anyone has answer I would appreciate it. Thanks

It'd be good to find this out.
It looks like a pretty robust alnico with a good sized magnet not unlike a Blue.

I am going to think that that speaker is very much like the discontinued Eminence 12” Legend Alnico, which was a 35 watt speaker.

Nope, different speaker all together. This is the Fender one https://reverb.com/item/25467844-fen...er-by-eminence The seller listed this one as 75W but don't know how reliable that info is.

Thanks PaulD, It would be nice to know if the listing info. was correct. The actual Fender PN is 770859900. I have searched this PN on the internet and come up with nothing. This PN does reflect what is in the 57 Custom Deluxe manual.

Maybe it is worth contacting Eminence to ask for the specifications? Tech support contact from their website is info@eminence.com

Just to add that I played a '57 ri the other month at my local store(most probably the only one of these in the country) and it sounded great with this speaker, tight on the bottom end, not flubby at all, a very good overdriven sound.......I was impressed........but not with the price which was NZ$4k..........and that was 'used'.

PaulD Thanks my man. I called Eminence and they are closed on Friday's. I won't be able to call again until Thursday. I will post on the Forum then what I find out. Where in England are you from? I was born in Margate. I have been in the States for some time now.

goldtop0 I have had mine for a couple of weeks now. I typically play through a Marshall 2061x, but I am really loving the color I get out of this amp with both humbuckers and P-90's.

I'm from Coventry. I did a USA west coast trip a few years ago, drove Highway 1 from LA to San Francisco so didn't get quite as far north as you are.

Too funny! my mother was raised in Coventry. My Grandparents lived on Lockhurst Lane across the street from Courtaulds factory back in the day. Many fond memories with my Grandparents in Courtaulds Club and the cricket field. That was the 70's mind you!

Wow, small world! I grew up not far from Lockhurst Lane and served my apprenticeship at Brico Engineering on Holbrook Lane which is a continuation of Lockhurst Lane, that was in the 70's too.

Yes well I'm a recent convert to the Fender 'overdriven' sound in the last year with 6V6 valves in both of my combos.
Bought an old '65 SR back in '91 however the dimed tone is uninspiring(very brown) but the clean tone to slightly dirty is great........who wants to play it dimed anyway..........it rips your ears off!!
Got a 12" speakered PR this year and a Deluxe ri and couldn't be happier, however I've changed the speakers in both to a Blue(Deluxe) and an old '50s Celestion alnico 74 1772(PR).
I don't like the ceramic Fender speakers at all to date and to a lesser extent celestion also, so go with Celestion alnicos in my amps now, provides a richer rounder sound I find.
And yes tone to die for with P90s............why do we go for humbuckers I ask you

I too have just picked up a Celestion Blue to try in my Deluxe RI. A lot of folks here seem to really like the combination. So like you I have found my P-90 guitars sound great with the Fender amp. I have one Les Paul with Humbuckers, so I don't attest this holds true for all Humbuckers, but mine sounds great through that amp to my ears. It is a 60th Anniversary 59 RI from Wildwood Guitars. That guitar sounds like it was made to be played through that amp!

Yes my '13 R8 sounds great through the amps also, it's just the neck pup in my '13 R6 that shines by comparison, more tops and clarity overall.....can't be beat!!

I have a 2006 R6 that has not left the neck position while it plays through the Fender, so I can relate and have had a similar experience. Do you have any single coil Fender guitars that you play through that amp? A little off topic I know, Just curious.

Yes my Tele partscaster. Fenders go hand in hand so it's a good sound for sure. The neck P90 is almost a fender tone..........bordering on the middle position on a humbucker LP I think.

You are corr3ct, sir. That looks more like the Eminence EJ1240 speaker with regard to the magnet structure.

Certainly looks the same Wally........and rated at 40w which would fit with a 12w Deluxe.
