Anyone own any Rock Star/Celebrity Owned and Played Instruments?

    Hey!

I wanted to make a forum just asking if anyone has any really cool guitars owned/played by rockstars! I am a big collector so wanted to share some of my items too. I own one of Bruce Springsteen's stage used guitars, a Paul Stanley Guitar and a Tom Petty Guitar. Do you guys got anything cool?

    Lets see!

Not sure this qualifies, however, I "scavenged" a beat up tambourine that was left behind on stage by Jim Peterik (the Ides of March) when they played at Fort Hunt High School in 1971.

    I own Jimmy Fey's lefty ES-345 from 1964.
He and his band never made the big-time, but they opened for lots of the great ones. The B&W is April 28, 1968 opening for Cream. Check out the factory-done personalized fingerboard. It's no longer on the guitar, but I do have it. BTW, I'm sure the board was done by Gibson, as I've seen others with the same script.
This guitar has been a game-changer!

Not a guitar, but back in '92 or '93 I bought a 1972 Super Lead head, from Jimmy Brown @ The Guitar Emporium in Louisville, that was part of David Grissom's backline when he toured with John Mellencamp. A couple years back I contacted David, who confirmed he did do a fair amount of business with Jimmy, although he doesn't remember the specific head. It was one of two Super Leads the store bought. My buddy still has the other one.

I have a bright pink guitar pick that was once owned by Steve Morse and my friend has a drum stick that was once owned by Bev Bevan (he wrenched it from the hand of a girl who caught it first), although there's not much left since his dog chewed it up.

Re: Anyone own any Rock Star/Celebrity Owned and Played Instruments?

Not guitars, but I do have a couple pieces of gear. Both formerly owned by locals (Gainesville, Florida) who were/are in bands somewhat known nationally in the US.

I own this 1x12 Mos-Valve combo (below left) that was formerly owned by Charlie Hargrett of the Southern Rock band Blackfoot. I originally had a matching 1x12 extension cab (below right) as well (but sold it). Both are/were stenciled as shown in the pic of the extension cab.

And I have this beat up bass case that was owned by a bassist from the punk rcok band Against Me! Again, stenciled as such. (I know, it has other stencils too, but the seller specifically told me he'd gotten it from Against Me!, and, as he did not want any premium for the case based on provenance, had no reason to lie. Against Me! were based in Gainesville for many years and even opened for my band a couple decades ago. Of course, pre-fame.)

Come to think of it, the bass I keep in that case was formerly owned by one of the founding members of the sorta gothy-punk California band Neurosis, who became fairly big for that sort of thing. However, my friend Chad Salter left the band before they became famous. And I bought the bass from him before he was in Neurosis.

    That's all I got! ;)

quotThat is one of a pair of Dean Markley cabinets (with EVM 12"s) that I got when I worked at Sabine Music Center in the late eighties. They were designed to hold the Markley RM-80DR and RM-40DR 2-space rackmount, hybrid, channel-switching amps with a 12ax7 in the preamp and 80- or 40-watt solid state power sections. Really great amps. I sold the two cabinets through Tim Reynolds at Tim & Terry's music. I sold one of the 3 amps that I had to Scott Pitts. I don't remember what happened to the other two amps, other than some of the pots fell apart when Pete Murphy tried to clean them with tuner spray, and couldn't find replacements for them.

OP, how many forums are you posting this thread on?

I own Brad Whitford's Mary Kaye Stratocaster. I'm a huge Aerosmith fan and contacted his guitar tech via Facebook on a long shot seeing if Brad would want to sell any of his guitars. To my amazement he wrote back, "sure, let me ask Brad." The next day he asked if I wanted Brad's Mary Kaye from 1988. Brad bought it in the 90's and toured the world with it. It was even featured on his Rig Rundown. Brad signed the back of the headstock and wrote me a cool letter to go with it. This happened a few months ago.

I just picked up a champagne sparkle crucianelli from a dude on reverb

super cool micro humbucker pickups. And a couple of autographs on the back.

The autographs weren’t mentioned on the listing, not in the pics.

So so I ask the seller and he says “oh yeah. Some dude from the fixx used to own it,” and then he tried to describe who the Fixx were.

I always liked the Fixx. But this “provenance” was completely accidental.
