• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Do you keep your Custom Shop guitars in the case or on the stand?

They hang on the wall of my office where they are convenient to grab 'n play. They make great wall art as well.

Gorgeous! Would you mind telling us what each of the guitars are?

Both my 2003 and 2018 stay in their cases.

My 2003 was out for a while. I'm not sure how Washed Cherry worked but it seems that you could wash it out easily, so anything spongey would suck the red out. I caught it early on and it's of no consequence.

Be warned that even the case can have an effect. I have my cases standing on the long edge. The bottom part of the '03 washed cherry body with the cutaway has definitely aged slightly more than the top with the selector switch. Again quite attractive but does seem to be unique to Washed Cherry. A bit like being able to suck the juice out of an ice lolly (I think people elsewhere call them popsicles!).

I should leave my '18 out as it is aged anyway but I actually like playing hide and seek with my guitars (although I do keep some players out).

You want to hear something funny ? I keep a White Blonde Stratocaster (Wildwood 10 , that is actually pretty nice ) on a stand in my room just in case I get the itch to play . So do you ever think I have actually played her ? No , the last time I played her was mid July 2015 when I got my first Marshall 2555X half stack and I didn't like how she sounded thru the 2555X and have not played her since . What is even more funny is that this past weekend I cleaned her and she looks really pretty . I am so biased towards Les Paul's with Throbak humbuckers .

My two R9’s have always been out on stands or more recently a wooden rack. I like to be able to grab and play at will. Been living in Los Angeles since 2007. Weather doesn’t seem to bother them too much.

My guitars have been hanging and in stands for 30+ years. If I get the notion to play, I want a guitar to have easy access. I find if I keep a guitar in the case, I tend not to play it. No accidents yet, but I don't have pets or children in the house. Just my wife and I.

Always in a case.

Then if any doesn't get enough playing time because I can't be bothered to pull them out, it means it is time to move them.

I need to be on Hoarders.
I have 67 stringed instruments. Acoustics, Electrician Guitars and Basses. They are all in stands .
Kind of like a mechanics work shop.
You don't use a hammer when you need a nut driver is my take on it. They are all tools.

I'd love to see a picture of that!

I live in NH.... so similar weather to you Boston southerners.

All except 2 of mine sit on stands, next to a drafty window in a basement... and the temperature in this area of the house probably fluctuates by plus or minus 10 degrees throughout the year. humidity fluctuates too. I've had most of my guitars for over 20 years... they have been at this place for over 5....its not ideal, and at first I was concerned about them... but...

If I had a better place to put them I probably would, but that being said I don't see many changes in them throughout the years. The necks are straight, I do setups on each of them every couple years, but rarely have to adjust truss rods... when I play them 9 times out of 10 it is just tune and go.

The 2 in cases are the $$ ones... but thats more because young kids have regular access to this area than it is about the temps.

Good Man , just like me as I have them all on stands and rarely if ever except for one temper mental Les Paul (Custom ) do the necks ever move . The Les Paul Custom will be going to the tech shortly after one of my R9's comes back from the tech . I love walking into the Music room as my friend calls it and seeing them all sitting on there stands .

There are very few stands that I would trust. Mine are in cases or hanging on the wall. Sometimes one or two on the bed or a chair.

If you live in an area with fluctuating seasonal humidty your neck WILL require seasonal adjustment to the truss rod. To state otherwise or claim that somehow these guitars ignore the laws of physics makes me wonder who they think they are fooling?

Nothing like bragging about ignorance to brighten our day.

neither....I figured it was just easier to buy a 5-guitar vault/road case. Not the easiest to transport, but I have a small utility trailer, so it's no problem. It's definitely great for home use.....all my CS guitars are right there. leave the door off....and everything right there in front of me
