• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Do you keep your Custom Shop guitars in the case or on the stand?

neither....I figured it was just easier to buy a 5-guitar vault/road case. Not the easiest to transport, but I have a small utility trailer, so it's no problem. It's definitely great for home use.....all my CS guitars are right there. leave the door off....and everything right there in front of me

That's the point. A SECURE way to store our instruments, case, vault or secure stand prevents injury from accidents. It happens. Guitars fall, tip and get knocked over. No matter how you safely store/display them, common sense should dictate keeping them in a proper environment.

They hang on the wall of my office where they are convenient to grab 'n play. They make great wall art as well.

Looks like ALL of your Les Pauls have a very nice low neck angle. I love it this way. Feels and plays so good :dude:

To topic:
All guitars around me in nitro friendly stands or on the wall :hank

Day and night at any one time, I keep 3 or 4 guitars on stands, but the rest are in cases. I am fortunate to have a climate controlled, private and secured) music room at home. I do not keep any guitars in my office, which is away from home. I am also fortunate that the house has people in it 24 /7.

The environment in which one lives plays such a great role in the decision to leave them out or store them daily (humidity, temperature, fall risk and theft risk)...BTW, I leave my grandsons Loog guitar on the living room couch all day and it gets played by someone all the time.

If you live in an area with fluctuating seasonal humidty your neck WILL require seasonal adjustment to the truss rod. To state otherwise or claim that somehow these guitars ignore the laws of physics makes me wonder who they think they are fooling?

Nothing like bragging about ignorance to brighten our day.

Al,

This might be a genuine exception: My 1970 (69?) SG. I cannot recall ever touching the truss rod, and definitely know that it hasn’t been touched since ‘74 or so. The guitar has lived all over the USA and has spent many years on a stand. The neck doesn’t move enough to feel, see (string tap) or measure. The stability certainly comes from the huge, three-piece neck (five counting the headstock wings).

My 2009 R8 and Strat need to be tweaked twice/year without exception.
